Route 66 passes through 186 miles (299 km) of the Texas Panhandle. Approximately 90% of it is drivable. Interstate Highway 40 has replaced the Route but there are business strips of US-66 (Route 66) that pass through ghost towns, surviving towns and revived towns. The "midpoint" of Route 66 is in Adrian, Texas.
